Sound By Design began in 1996 as a humble DJ business by Founder, Paul Hackbarth. Over 24 years, Paul, along with family, friends, and dedicated employees grew the company to be a leading entertainment company in Milwaukee offering DJ, lighting, photo booth, and videography services. Over two decades, Paul continued to expand his business to include three wedding venues and five Camp Bar locations. In 2012, the umbrella company, Hackbarth Hospitality Group was created.

Paul’s brother-in-law, Torie Gamez, has worked alongside Paul since 2001 when they attended high school together. Torie worked his way up from DJ to Director of Operations in 2012. His passion and vision have helped propel Sound By Design to where it is today. As of 2021, Torie has become the owner of Sound By Design and Films By Design. In addition, Torie’s wife, Tiara Gamez, is the owner of Events to a T (a wedding planning company) which provides even more seamless service options for their clients. The companies, Sound By Design, Films By Design, and Events to a T all fall under the newly formed parent company Events By Design.

Sound By Design and all their sub-brands continue to have a strong partnership with Hackbarth Hospitality, serving as the in-house entertainment service for their wedding venues and Camp Bar locations. Torie and Tiara are honored to represent and continue expanding Sound By Design’s legacy as event industry leaders in Milwaukee.
